E-Speech self review

Okay. Much late on this but whatever. I was tasked with reviewing my own speech in my blog so, here goes:

Overall, I did not do too badly. I could have had it memorized a lot more but then again, I could have had it a lot less memorized then I did. My actions were not all that great, if there was one thing I could change for next time its my actions. In an entertainment the movements are so important so it becomes that much more important to nail them just right. I do not exactly remember if I used a lot of extraneous noise in my speech but knowing that I STILL use extraneous noise, I'm pretty sure that that is something else I need to work on as well.

Aside from that, the speech went pretty well, a few laughed at a handful of dumb jokes: a lot more than I was actually expecting. The content was full of puns and alliteration and I'm pretty happy with how I did.

Parent Conferences

To parents, if you even come: this is to tell you how I think I am doing, and what I think of the class.

How I am doing:
I think I am doing quite well. Occasionally when I miss school it takes a day or two to catch up but it never takes long. My speeches and homework get good grades and I like my work.

How I expect to do:
I do not expect my work to do any better next term. Overall I am happy with how I am doing.

Things I enjoy:
I enjoy the discussion we have in class. I also really like the freedom I have with what I want to talk about. Lastly, I enjoy the amount of respect I get from the teacher... what I mean is, in other classes, students are treated as students and some things, such as speaking my opinion or having something witty to comment about or leaving my phone on the couch when I get up :))), are simply let go in this class because I am treated as a person with a certain amount of patience.

Things I do not enjoy:
There really is not any part of this class I do not enjoy.

Message:
Hello.

Facebook ToS

February 4th, Facebook released a new version of their Terms of Service. At first glance, these changes had no effect on the way information was exchanged and most people dismissed the new changes without a second glance. That is, not all took it at first glance, however. After a second viewing of these terms, people began to point out one of the new clauses in particular, the one that said that Facebook had almighty rights to all of the user-posted content for all of time. After an uproar of the digital communitty, Facebook reinstated the old ToS until the new ToS is revised.

I believe the attempt at changing the ToS was nothing more than another way to make money. There is serious money to be made by selling hundreds of millions of people's information, including email and addresses and phone numbers, to advertising companies. There is no reason for Facebook to be able to do that much with the user content as well as there is no reason for Facebook to keep this information long after a user terminates their account.

Favorite Baseball Team

Well let me first start by saying I do not have a favorite baseball team. I do not even know any baseball teams, I barely know HOW to play baseball. I could post a schedule and comment on a random team's prospects for the season, and I shall.

Pierce, Ne Ninjas

Week 1 - Vs. The Monkeys
This game is looking good. The Monkeys are not that great of a team, their outfield is weak and their batting is horrible. Easy win.

Week 2 - Vs. Monkeys
This game we are going against real monkeys. We will definately lose this one. Monkeys can catch and they are phenomenal throwers: they have been throwing their own fecal matter since infancy

Week 3 - Vs. Pirates
NINJAS VS PIRATES!?! Such a game will be epic porportions. Expect the pirates to play dirty. Those swashbuckling swine.

Week 4 - Vs. Ourselves
Evil scientists have decided to clone our DNA to form an identical team. Expect them to know every move and every trick, this game will probably go into the 15 or 16th inning.

Week 5 - Championship
No way to know who will play at the championship game. Could be the Yankees (those Noobs), could be the rhinos, could actually be real rhinos! There is just no way to predict this one.

There you have it. This year's roster looks decent. Another great season.

Current Event

The stimulus package, The breakdown:

After watching this video from CNN news, I not only learned what the bill is being broken down into but I also added this news story as a source for my persuasive essay :). The video breaks the apportioned spending into 3 categories on a pie chart. I do not remember the exact numbers of each, but one section was devoted to direct aid, such as food stamps and wealthfare, another section to tax reliefs, such as the 400$ worker credit, and the last to discretionary spending, which involves money being spent on whatever money needs to be spent on, the reporter gave the example of alternative-energy investment.

I believe that there are several flaws in the plan of spending this money. First of all, the part where money is being spent on direct aid: How can investing in a person who does not give anything back to society, like the homeless or the imprisoned, help our economy? It does not stimulate anything into being moved. My second complaint, why is only 400$ dollars being credited to workers? That amount of money is not large enough to help the citizens with their amassed debts. Not nearly enough people will take that credit and spend it on what could really help the economy. I could EASILY go on, but then I would just be writing a speech about it, which I really need to get started on doing :(

Problem

Today's topic: A problem we have in our life and how we plan to resolve it.

I guess the biggest problem I have in my life right now is that I live in small, country town and I have no connection to my friends who all live outside of the direct area of Pierce, Ne.. So I need a car... Unfortunately I have no income, and the only jobs I have not applied for are in Norfolk. I need a car to get to norfolk very day. Its a brutal vicious circle.

However, recently my mother has offered to drive to Norfolk every day if I pay for gas. Problem solved. Now all I need to do is find a job in Norfolk, which I have already started looking for. Hopefully I will quickly find one before I start my summer job as a lifeguard. Oooo good times at the pool ;)

Valentine's Day Plan

Well I have no particular date for Valentine's day, the girlfriend has to work. But I am seeing her tomorrow, the day before Valentine's day. Our date will be a little interesting... We are both incredibly nerdy. So as a date I am bringing her favorite food (potatoes... no kidding.) and we are cooking it up and adding whatever toppings we want. After that we plan on jumping on the inter-web and watching some of our favorite anime shows. Yes, nerdy. All our plans are not solid and, like always, whatever happens, happens.
